1UZFE/2UZFE into a 2nd Gen 4Runner (U.S.)

The 1UZFE EGR Delete Kit is available for sale here.
I am hoping to remove my 1" BL, but I'm still not sure that can happen yet. Going for low and planning to hack my fenders/footwells.

Did another trial fit of the oil filter mount. Framerail clearance is an issue.

On the left is the 1UZ filter on the right, the 3VZE. Neither of them make it.

Looks like a relocation or more of a block hugger mount is in order.

Not sure yet, but it appears that the stock steering stabilizer location can be reused. Might be tight with the beefy OME though.

Hey - anybody know what will take the paint off that the junk yards use to tag their wares? Not wild about this being on the final product.
 
I usually just re spray the part...great pics i will be hopefully starting my swap soon i am going to opt out of the 4.3 vvti and go with the 4.0 it just seems like less of a hassel...

That is a great move. There is much more knowledge available for the 4.0 currently. 3-4 years down the road will be another matter entirely...
 
This is an awesome thread guys..currently thinking of a 1UZ into a Pajero..any ideas,thoughts? found a thread on http://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=793066 but the link is broken and is very old.. :( anyways just trying to collect as much info as poss.. :) btw the A44DL atm is same as in V6 pajero's so a bellhousing is most likely too ..might be able to keep original running gear..anyone thinking of the same?

Whoops..lol found out it the wrong box BUT the A340F IS in the Pajero/Montero 3.0 ltr and 3.5 ltr version from 94 onwards...it a start looks like i just need to change the bellhousing and The oil pump drive ,input assembly if I'm right thats it as well as maybe doing the Valve body mod( do i really need to..?) thats should be all oh i'm not goiung to use the rocks gearing so is standard T'case OK..? ie strong enough..?if so then it should ( 1UZ + Modded Hybrid A340F) just fit straight in with mayb e a BL 1-2"..hope so:) also have to find the rear sup verison to make it a better swap.Heard that front sups can do the mani bearings when climbing hard..Vertical..Oil drains from front to back then Boom she's a gonna,no more oil on bearings etc..What do you guys think..? It's a goer i know..:)BTW in New Zealand and i want to have the first 1UZ Pajero in the country..hehehe keep ya posted on wuts goin on

Good Posting! That is great info. Where did you come across that list?

I saw 1 error for sure, but not a huge deal. The 1995 4Runner came with an A340H - diffferent animal than the A340F. Also, the 1996-2002 4Runners came with A340F. The list only calls out a few years...

You might need to add the speed sensor show in the pics above also for the ECU to be happy. In talking with SuperRunner, he seems to think it is not needed.
 
found the list at http://www.transonline.com/transID/default.asp and i'm sure that it would be around say 90% correct which in turns gives a LOT of people options which is awesome,The site is good in the sence that you can chop and change the manufactorers and double check if it is listed..

Also i'm sure that there would have ben very slight variations of what is listed but generally good info.
 
Xferr CAse

Am I correct in saying that the xfercase in the A340F is the VF2A..? and if so is it strong enought for a 1UZ chain driven??? also just read that the new Cruiser has this xfer also

I have a friend with an LS400. I will reach up there this week sometime and disconnect that and go for a drive. I will let you know how it reacts.

Not sure, but I think it is a VF2A - I have one out of a 2000 4Runner I'll check.

The only reason I went with the gear drive cases was so I could run crawler gears and a doubler. The other benefit for me was the driveshaft got back on the correct side for my application. The 96-02 A340F are driver side drop.
 
Monday will probably be bad, Tuesday too. I have viewing and a funeral to go to. Cousin was killed in a car accident(dumb 16 year old just got his license and was traveling down a small canyon at 90mph and hit head on with a suburban. Killed all the passengers in the back seat of the mustang...16 year old kid and front passenger lived. Guys in suburban were fine.
Anyway wednesday would be good. I have some questions for you, and I will try to find out about the sensor before then.
 
cebby, did you mention that the Tundra manifolds might be a little more narrow?

I just purchased a 2UZ, but i have to wait to get it delivered? Do you know if these will work? If not, then I need to start on a custom manifold.
 
From what I've seen, the collector may get into the firewall. (See post 193) The flowtech ones have a better chance of fitting, but may get into the framerail/torsion bar bracketry (See post 192) I don't have any 2UZ exhaust parts, so I'm not 100% on that. There are pics earlier in this thread that show what the 2UZ headers look like. I'll try you Wednesday (sorry for your loss) :(
