Bullish, Craig paisley, all the other guys have to conform to class regulations, so it's not so much motor preference, as it is that.
Just remember that HP isn't the final goal when it comes to building a car like ours. The motor that was referenced above has no real place on the street simply because the car would do nothing but spin in one spot while a 300fwhp Honda walks off. There's no streets in America that are prepped as well as an average track. Even if there was some hint of traction, the motor would be so unwieldy and high strung that it would be a nightmare to drive on a public road.
Just to give you reference, I made 550rwhp, 1/2 throttle, at 6Krpm. On the street, from redlight to redlight, there's not much else you need. On a long straight, the car errupts, even at half throttle, all the way to ~8K. The car makes 6-700rwhp in an instant without breaking a sweat. It'll make between 900 and 1000rwhp if it's on full street kill at 24psi. God forbid this thing turns out 40psi. I suppose the point is that with a true 4 digit car, powered by a twin turbo V8 like you'll have, there's not much more to wish for. The only thing left really to work out is streetability, and road manners.
