First of all, Lowboost I was never offended at all and am open to these types of discussions that is how you learn new things. I was just inquiring on some of your statements only because I heard different and have experienced different. Just trying to put all the peices to the puzzle together, that is all. To your question on whether or not the IUZ.. can hold up with a 150hp wet shot of nos? Well my answer is if the nos system is installed properly and the car is stock with 230-250hp to begin with the answer would be yes with no problem... A modified 300hp sc400 running stock pistons and rods like my car may be a different story over the long haul... The pistons are the weak points in these engines then the rods, tranny etc....I have been pushing over the 400hp with the nos for the longest time, you say how is that so with a 100 shot, well with the heated bottles and I would estimate my average nos shot to be 125-150hp on average so you could say I a pressing the limits of this car for over a year with no problems. Keep in mind my sc400 was owned by an old doctor and dealer maintained up until the day I bought it with 92,000 original miles. I got the car two years ago and it now has 110,000 miles so it is a young one. I run sythetic oils and take great care of this car and it's transmission. Also I was running the stock sc430 tires on my LSD up until about two weeks ago so under heavy horsepower the rears broke loose often and easily, so just maybe because of all those factors I am living on the limits of my stock parts... Who knows and with each mod I do I get a little more nervous. These headers and fat rear tires will really put it to the test, so far so good....
As far as the bottle heating up and blowing that is not likely. I believe these bottles are pressure tested to hold 2000psi or more, I am not certain of that as fact but even heated they would be pressed to blow. I have probably had the bottle pressure to 1800psi the one time and 1500psi many times. Got real nervous on the 1800 or so psi run, but yes have the heater core wired into the ignition or a relay that will shut it off when the car is turned off and you will not have any problems as I have now done.
Having a fully charged 10 pound bottle in the trunk on a 100 degree + day sitting in the sun can heat the bottle pretty good too, but you just need to keep an eye on things. I have never heard of a bottle blowing up in any ones truck.... So no need to worry, I don't..... I certified scuba diver and use to dive all the time and I know you can pressurise the hell out of the scuba tanks and they are basically the same as the nos tanks....I would say there is almost no chance of blowing a nos tank....
