I'm going to buy an LS 400. The one I'm currently looking at has a peculiar steering. I can turn the steering wheel about two fingers to either side and then I hear a "tack" or "clack". There seems to be no resistance to the movement before the sound. After the "tack" the steering feels fine. What does this seem to be? The car in question is a 1995 with ~150k miles. How much should I estimate to invest to fix this? Would it be save to drive the car from where it is now over about 100 miles to where I am?
Thanks for any help in this,
Marko
