I just outlined one of the numerous ways to get the car fkt up. To show that's not only speed sensor that can trigger the 42 code.
But, if everything is disconnected from ECU's pin (NSW) and the dtc 42 persists, it's time to check the sensor. Disconnect all the plugs from ECU and make sure that there's resistance in the range of 600 Ohm - 2000 Ohm between SP2+ and SP2- at harness plug (when ecu disconnected). That's the easiest check (always start with checking simplest assumptions like broken loom/sensor)
