or theres two of us in the uk fitting the 1uz into aw11`s 1100kg that should make it ok for you to use a 1uz over there

mate it doesn't matter what other countries do - try getting a 1UZ /AW11 swap reqistered in QLD -they have their own little rules up there.

It seems in SA, anything can be registered if the engineer can prove to the rego people that it meets thier saftey standards.

Although, im not sure if thats changing with these new country wide weight/power rules.

Well over here in new zealand there is a KE35 coupe with a 1UZ in it running n/a it was doing the quarter in the low 12's. Its road registered and now running Nos. He uses a W57 gearbox and a hilux Diff. He did cut the firewall and the trans tunnel to get it all to fit though.
