I'm new to this forum and only in the planning phase of implanting a 1UZFE in my Nissan Patrol.
I am wondering now why is it that so many of you guys put in a aftermarket ECU? What's wrong with the original one?
The OEM ecu is fine for a basic swap, stock 1uz with auto or manual transmision. How ever if you plan to go with forced induction, or cams, Itb's or other moderate to extream changes the factory ecu just can't handle them. There is also no way to rechip or flash the stock ecu as far as I know so most people just swap it out for something that's very flexable and easy to work with. I am running my 1UZ swaped supra on a mega squirt 2 for example.
Thanks redrocco. I'm relieved. You guys are way ahead already. I'm happy when I manage to get stock the 1UZFE with auto box implanted and running smooth. Considering what I have now (2.8 TD, 85kw/235Nm) it should make for a hell of a difference and I don't plan on tuning it. Well......, let's see. Thanks again.
