F150's suck. Horribly. I know, I've got one. Worst trucks on the road.
Horrific build quality.
Are the Ford trucks really crap? My best friend has a F150 and it seems solid and has decent pulling powerful...for a truck???

As far as other choice fantasy cars I really like this ferrari F60 and have seen one recently on the showroom floor...AWESOME is the word...

F60 V12 650bhp
Seven gears
0-100Kph 3.2 seconds

From what I remember....

My ultimate fantasy would be driving a 1000 rwhp SC400 with TH400 transmission. Twin GT35R turbos with 2uzfe bottom and 1uzfe heads. Autronic standalone ECU. This fantasy can be done with about 25k. It might not get the looks or the wow, but once the turbos spooled up. Its over!
YEP! We have similar taste for an affordable monsterous car. In addition to 25K, throw in another $10K for a one-of-a-kind custom body kit and I guarantee this SC will turn most heads and envy most $1/4 million car drivers on the streets. As we all know, many $1/4 million cars are made from custom body/fiberglass body kits. I haven't seen a really eye-catching SC but I've seen a nice Toyota MR2 Spyder with a Veilside bodykit (only $6K). I saw it once on the street and it really startled me. It looked a lot better on the street. Here it is:

Are the Ford trucks really crap?
Yessssss.
The brakes are always anemic. (My ES 300's i.e. v6 Camry WAGON's brakes are larger, with more aera than this F150-CC's are...)
The transmission shift logic is poor at best.
The engine... Well it's an engine. Im sure some people love it, but it cuts out insessantly when cruising - which I have found no cause too. Can take forever to start (Because ford can't build an engine with a working crank position sensor)
Random dash functions cut out.
The radio is to be ashamed of.
The build quality is miserable. Everything falls apart, nothing fits, everything is insanely cheap.

The only good thing about it is parts are cheap so you can run into trees & drop bobcat buckets on the tailgate - just because you want to break it & don't really care.

That & they're hella unsafe. You clip *anything* on the front 1/4's of anything built off the F's platform & the A-pillar crushes your head in - even when what you impact only goes to the front of the wheel well...

(The crash test videos are disheartining & I've seen the effects after a woman myself & dad were doing a lot of contracting buisness with in her explorer had a heart attack & clipped - clipped mind you - a pine tree. Die from blunt head trama when the A-pillar collapsed in her face.)

0-60 is not a performance standard anywhere but with journalists.

The 60' matters though.

I would probably take a new Z06. I do not have enough infomation on the new Mustang to decide.

After all that all I can say is you should have bought a Chevy....oooops I mean Toyota Tundra....:dunno:

$$$
The f150 was loaded, crew cab for $9k, a smilar tundra would have been about 24K at the time, AND didn't exist. Import trucks have small beds. It wouldn't have the bed size we need. The standard measure for a work truck is the ability to hold a 4*8 sheet of wood between the wheel wells.

I don't know why they built such a car.
I stole that picture off the CL forum...you should have seen the other angle shots..I did not want anyone to hurle their lunch so I did not post the less flattering side and front shots of Lex's SC400 dream car..........Can you say Mexilex anyone?

I hope I don't get banned for this one, but here is one more pic for the road...:yikes: (and yes those are stock sc400 rims and tires)...

man what kinda monster created that monster, very funny jibby. As for F-150's back when i was in high school, my friend, the most abusive driver i have ever know had a 97 f-150 extended cab. He redlined it all the time, smoked the tires, and would jump this cattle guard at 50+ miles per hour and land a good 30+ feet away from the jump point. It had almost 100,000 miles and still running strong until his brother rolled it and it landed back on it wheels and he drove his girlfriend who was bleeding to the hospital after the roll. The truck still ran when the insurance people came and picked it up. My friend who had this truck had already killed the turbo and transmission in a 2003 F-450 by 2004 and destroyed the transmission in a 2004 Chevy 3/4 ton HD by 2005. I was more than impressed with that f-150 and the structural rigidity seemed good and tight until the roll over. What year is your truck?

I use to buy and sell Ford trucks and Bronco's years ago...high mileage always meant nightmares on those Ford trucks...pumping in the tranny, loose steering, rattles, knocks you name it...Pure Junk...Chevy's weren't much better, trannies always went out right around 130,000 miles but seemed to hold up just a little bit better then the Fords as far as knocks and noises......

These were all 90 model trucks that I am talking about...I Can't talk much about the 2000 and newer models.. I honestly thought they were getting better....Maybe not...

Toyota's always lasted longer over the American trucks..that is what actually got me to look at these Lexus cars years back.. However, I later determined that (toyota's) lasted longer for only one reason....because of their lack of horsepower to break and wear out parts faster..The Toyota trucks and car parts are made out of the same metal like American trucks and not some magical long lasting metal.....bottom line is that Horsepower kills all trucks and drivetrains over the long haul..especially if your towing crap like boats, cars, toys, etc..all the time.....Just my two cents...

I totally agree with you about the Toyota cars lasting a lot longer than American cars. But...umh!! I'm sorry John, I'm kinda having a different opinion about the same materials/ horsepower stuff that make American cars don't last that long. The materials that Toyota cars (and other Japanese cars) use are different from American cars. And not just all about materials, Toyota's designs are also a lot better than American cars, from the pistons, rings, gaskets...etc. With the same horsepower and displacement, Toyota wins for sure. However, I agree with you that only "some parts from Chevy" can handle a huge amount of power like the imports. Most of others are junk.

The reason for the American cars don't last that long because the American car manufacturers want to boost the economy by making consumers spend on new stuffs, while the Japanese want to compete by making things last longer. I also believe the American cars can make the cars last very long but they just don't want to.

Porsche anytime!!!!!!!!!! I like the feel it gives and not the ones with plush leather with so much options. I like the simplicity and the true feeling of a super car
porsche has one supercar, and they no longer sell them in the US. the carrera gt.

I just had a chance to look over a brand new top of the line V8 Maserrati today....and it should be mentioned in that first post list..

What a nice sleek car inside and out...Very impressive....I don't know much about it, but it looks amazing and it looks fast. What do you guys know of this car? Does anyone have any info on it? I can't find specs...

looks like a coupe Gransport to me.. its not bad, 400 horsepower, ferrari derived drivetrain. its nice, but I would wait a year and go for a LS600hL over it any day. In terms of current autos, Mercedes S Class AMG too. In terms of sports cars.. umm, ferrari anyone?

Speaking of ferrari, that "F60" isn't a F60, primarily because there is not F60. It is an Enzo. 6 Forward Gears, although 7 if ya count the reverse.

It looks much better in person and in silver color to match up with the rims....I tell you in looks it is right up their with the Austin Martin Vanquish, almost maybe...

never seen one in person.. which says something too.. the Maserati has that rarity factor that Mercedes and Lexus will never have, something to consider.

Coincidentally, I just saw a similar car like this on the freeway today. I first thought it's a Masserati. Also, on last Monday, I saw a real Mercedes McLaren SLR on the freeway (the one that raced with the Enzo a few months ago). Both cars are really awesome to be seen in person, I have to say it with my hearts. They look a lot lower, hotter, and wider than in the pictures. The Masserati looks clean and beautiful, but the SLR (especially the rear) has a wide body and a monsterous look. However, the SLR's front just looks very similar like the SL 500. The front is not very much appealed to me, although I dream to have one SL 500 or a CL 55.
