John, I agree with you 200%. A great tuner is far far more important than a great ECU. I've contacted a few reputable shops around my area, and they seem to agree that the EMS is a great ECU to work with. I even contacted EMS support and they told me I wouldn't have a hard time getting it tuned. Their software is actually designed based on a user friendly interface. Thanks for the helpful information guys, I'll settle with the EMS 8860.
Now I need to find the right turbo to replace mine. Currently running a leaky, ridiculously laggy, master power T70. Any suggestions on a ball (dual?) bearing 60ish trim turbo? I've been looking into Precision, they don't seem to be that expensive and are pretty durable from what I've read.
