Does anyone in QLD do valve body mods to make the auto gearbox (a341e) full manual so it doesn't need wiring etc - I heard a rumor that someone in South Australia does.

Andrew

With no electrics connected the gearbox will shift manually 1st, 3rd 4th by moving the shifter L, 2, D. But you wont be able to select 2nd.

It should be possible to wire the selector switch to the solinoids through some diodes and a switch to make it shift manually through all gears without any internal mods. I haven't tested this as I am still building my hot rod but this was my back up if the gearbox controller I'm working on doesn't work (it works fine on the test bench).

What ECU are you using to control the engine?

I'm also located on the Gold Coast if you wanted some help with this.

Regards,

Daniel.

just saw this and wanted to ask, how hard is it to run a standalone with my a341e? I was under the assumpsion the stock ECU could be saved for just running tranny, and new ECU for engine.

Is it just a game of tricking the old ECU with resistors?

i just made a shift unit for a guy in perth
it connects to yr auto and u just power it up
and which ever gear yr shifter is in the gbox will select that gear
its so u can change yr auto manually if yr not running the factory ecu that controls the auto
i also have tip tronic kits for these autos
u push lever up for up gears and down for down gears
i did have mine working thru buttons on steering wheel thru a transmitter and then the reciever is on tip tronic unit
this meant no cables from steering wheel to tip tronic unit
just pain changing batteries to transmitter all the time
but was nice and neat

i had a shift kit put in auto and it shifted much faster and harder
then once i fitted the tip tronic is shifted even faster
so remember that when u decide to wire up auto to worth thru shifter and not factory ecu it changes gears a bit faster

u can run the factory ecu to control half the engine ecu and al the auto

then piggyback the standalone to just run timing and injectors
its pretty easy to do
ive done alot of these on 1js
just can get fiddly fine tuning it to make it run perfect with auto
but can be done

ok, not sure I followed all this, but I want my trans to be button shift (tiptronic style) and shift harder... what all does this take? (I want it to hold the gear I'm in without upshifting until I tell it - I'm trying to avoid having to put a manual in it)

hi

i have 2 tip tronic kits which i bought of kdog on these forums

u have an switch which u push up to go up gears and down to go down gears
or u can adapt yr own switches on yr steering wheel its easy

when i had one on my 1uz it shifted abit faster
but for the best shift u need one of these and also to get ry tranny fitted with a shift kit or whatever they do to them

or if yr on a budget i can make u a small box that will select the gear that u put the shifter in so this means moving the shifter up and down to get gears

if u want i can also wire it up to just plug into yr auto if u send me pic of yr trans solenoid plug

if yr interested in buying one send me email

I sent ya an eml, knda hrd 2 rd ur typin!

Yeah, I'm interested. Looking for plug and play solution. Ideally I'd be able to switch between "tiptronic" style and straight auto, but not manditory... needs to be able to hold a gear like a manual, and will be used in a race car.

Thanks.

well running it full auto and switching it to full tip tronic is the issue here

yr prob better of looking into a supra stick or some other aftermarket ecu

ive never fitted a supra stick but have played with psc auto controllers

anyway once u start looking into them the price skyrockets

the unit i have will only do tip tronic

or i can do a cheap box that will select the gear that yr shifter is in
but i recon if i had it in my car id get annyed with it

anyway there 3 or 4 different ways to go
so determine yr budget and exactly what u need
then ring around and get more info

getting info on forums usually gives u a bum steer especially if u donmt understand what they are saying
i know exactly what u need but trying to expalin it on here might sound too much for most

Plug n' play tiptronic is good enough.. how much...
