v8 soarer wont rev over 2000rpm

hey guys

so iv just got my v8 91 soarer back on the road after about 6 months of sitting just being started about once a month

when I started it up it it would rev up ok then just cut out and drop to about 600rpm then rev up and if I held it at a constant throttle position it will pulse up and down.

when driving it it will drive fine until it reaches 2000rpm and then cut revs right down if I changed gear (its manual) before it reaches 2000rpm its fine. it idles normal and sounds normal its got a half tank of fresh fuel and I done the plugs and leads about a year ago

any help will be great!

and CEL's? my sc did the same shit when i first bought it, only it was once in a while. when a piece of catylatic converter would break apart and clog it up in there it would act up. when i took off the cats they were so gummed up im surprised it ran. i didnt even have to change the o2's, fresh cats and no more issue.
