Wonder if anyone has had experience with TimeSert or thread inserts for head stud holes with the 1UZ? or any high boosted alloy block, good idea or not?
Mixed reports on the web, can't find any comments in this forum search.
For example could they be used on and engine build to increase the stud hole strength and stud pull out resistance when going with high stud torque down specs for reliable daily high boost?
Read up sounds good, you would get a bigger bite into the block aluminum with a slightly larger major thread diameter and a steel thread face for the ARP studs to bear against.
(I also have a few suspect stud hole threads on my current block in any case and these would save me throwing the block.)
I am looking at them for 7/16" ARP's using 1.5" long insert's, the ARP studs actually only take up 1" of thread.
And also possibly looking at them for 1/2" studs too.
I am considering the 5.2L stroker alloy block and surely head stud integrity will be even more of an issue.
