gear selector

hay im new to this.and am not very familiar with auto trannys..i have the box with U1 stamped on it.. in the front cut that i bought it didnt have the gear selector with it.and there were some wires cut jst b4 where it would go..on the centre console...im jst wondering if i can use a gear selector from a vt comodore or similar shifter from another car..and also it has a 3 bolt flange on it..can i get a standard yoke to go in place of the 3 bolt coupling.. o and the engine is going in a 2x4 99 model dual cab hilux

Hello - We undo the large nut on the output coupling and then machine this to accept a normal 4 bolt type universal than run a slip joint in the middle of the driveshaft - I think one is going to go onto the hoist tomorrow so I will try and get a photo.
Other shifters can work - we spent a while looking for one - even looked at a soarer shifter into a hilux but the look big and ugly. Ended up using one out of a AE85 levin / trueno Small and looks good

Drive flange off a A340H will fit on in place of the 3 bolt coupling. You will need a different seal to suit as well. What about a shifter off an MX83 ? It even has switch for O/D.
