Flex joints????

I recently purchased an Sc400 for a decent price. The only big problem the owner stated was that the "flex joints" on the driveshaft need to be changed. I honestly don't know much about the drivetrain, but he stated that they hold the driveshaft in place. From driving it, i noticed vibrations during the ride. Does anyone know whats going on and/or how much it will cost to fix???? The former owner quoted 1300.....
