afm body issue

hi i have just brought a afm for my 1uz but it didnt come with the body. is there any thing special about the body or can i mount the sensor on top of the intake pipe

i still havent got this sorted but i kinda need to now because it is one of the last things i need to do.has any one needed to mount the afm on the inlet pipe without the afm body and also where do the pipes going towards the inlet pipe go to and what do they do when they get there will i need to buy a inlet pipe or will i be able to make up somthing up. thanks

u really need the factory body
these engine have idling issues if the air going into the air flow sensor is messed up or disturbed
i remember spending a day trying to sort out problems for a conversion from another workshop it had a restriction just before the air flow sensor
if u do fit the sensor into a piece of pipe
maybe try making it large enough to no cause restriction

i threw out 2 air flows in the bin last month as they had faulty sensors
and the bodies are worthless to me
