Its probably here but damned if I can find it. Whats the stock rear gear ratio of a 92 SC400 US spec car? I am doing a 2WD truck conversion and need to know to try to match the rear end gearing. Thanks

Cary

I have been wondering the same question. That link only states the transmission ratios. On the intellexual website it states that the final drive ratio is 3.92:1 but I am not sure if that is that actual rear-end itself or an overall figure. The reason being is next to the lexus it states the supra TT manual and auto have a 3.266 final drive, while i thought that the supra had a 3.76 rear end <------ (don't quote me on that), does any one know the rear end ratio for sure and have a site to back it up? Here is the intellexual site with the tranny and drivetrain information i am reffering to http://www.intellexual.net/faq.html#025

I guess I will just have to yank it out and take a look. I have a 4.3 gear right now with a 285/40/17 tire so the tire is slightly bigger but thats still to high of a gear for it. I think if it is 3.9ish I will go with a 4.1 or so with a Supra LSD unit. Should be just about right for a 3100lb truck.

Let me know if anyone knows for sure before I go through the trouble of yanking it out.

According to the various posted sources the following ratios are:

1993-1998 Supra TT manual - 3.133 (torsen)
1998+ Lexus V8 Cars VVTi - 3.266 (open differential only)
1990-1997 LS400 - 3.62 (open differential only)
1993-1996 Supra TT auto - 3.769 (torsen, 3.77 not the usual 3.76 quoted)
1997-1998 Supra TT auto - 3.769 (open standard, torsen available)

1992-1997 Lexus SC400 - 3.912 (open differential only)

1992-1998 Lexus SC300 manual - 4.08 (open differential only)
1997-1998 Supra non turbo - 4.08 (open standard, limited slip available)
1992-2000 Lexus SC300 automatic - 4.272 (open differential only)
1993-1996 Supra non turbo - 4.272 (open standard, limited slip available)

John,

Would the first gen SC300 fit into my LS400 for an upgrade?

David, I believe Lvangundy tried to install an SC400 diff in his LS400 and had problems. It has been a while and I do not remember specifics. I used to have his phone number but cannot find it and he hasn't been on line here for some time. Hope all is well with him.
