I checked the oil pressure at the end of the oil line before the turbo. This oil line is t'eed off the oil pressure sender. An old excuse like an old wife tale?

Yep was the oil line connected to turbo ??

I checked the pressure at the end of the oil line, but no turbo is connected at that time. I thought about the reading may be higher this way, but since the line is still from a T, it should be accurate.

Yea it's the flow or build up of oil inside which pushes through seals..
SOME engines have oil feed off rocker gallery where oil pressure lower..
The Cat turbo [marine] diesel engines had a oil supply distribution system where there outlets had different pressures..
You'll find the actual turbo pressure lower with turbo connected..
The restrictor doesn't lower pressure by testing without turbo..
I guess a T off with pressure reg on to release pressure is another method..
