Hey i have a 1990 sr5 hilux xcab i was wonderin what i would have to do to put a 1uz into it i havent done anything in the engine bay yet so could someone tell me what i would have to do to fit it in and get it runnin.
Thanks
One big tip for when you get started. Take out the radiator and cut out the upper support that runs across the front. That way you don't have to lift the engine nearly as high when you take it in and out! You can easily weld it back in when you are done.
i recently sold mine
was a 92 with 1uz
anyway here is some of the stuff u need to do
sump
engine mounts
gbox mounts if u go manual
tailshaft
enhaust
handbrake
accel cable
battery relocation
wiring for ecu and battery and whatever
radiator do this properly and research alot as there is many ways to do it and yr car will stil get hot
fans
air con if u need it
air con hoses
heater hoses
power steering hoses if applicable
auto shifter linkage if appicable
over drive wiring
mod tacho if diesel tacho or fit tacho booster if petrol tacho
sort out speedo 1uzs have electric yr car is prob cable so swap over if possible
upgrade brakes r33 skyline are easy to fit
fit efi fuel pump and fuel lines etc etc
Ok cool thanks for the info just wondering what is the better 1uz to put in a mid sump engine or front sump whats easiest with the least amount of problems. Its also a factory manual already i was thinking of chucking the w55 box in there seeing as the adapter plates and parts are quite easy to come by
I prefer mid sumps. I dont bother with W55 as they are not much better than a stock box. W57 or W58 are an improvement. I can supply all parts. Search 1uz on trade me to find my mounts and other parts. Cheers
Could anyone please tell me if there is anything i need to cut ie the firewall to install the engine and w58 gearbox and wil the original gearbox cross member still do the trick for the w58? any help would be much appreciated thanks
No need to cut the firewall (Check out trade me to find my mounts with photos) Gearbox memeber may need a small change but very easy to do. Small note I should have said I prefer Front sumps in 2wd hilux. Cheers
I do clutches , flywheels , have several options for radiators and fans. Dont do any sway bars. Diesels dont ran a sway bar and we take them off the petrols. I beleive the later ute sway bars fit. Cheers
