What size turbos do you guys think would be good on a 1JZGTE setup? i was thinking to get a pair of these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7982606178&category=33742

or a pair of these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7982137995&category=33742

or maybe a pair of these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7983048023&category=33742

What do you guys think? i was wanting to use a pair of these, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7982248559&category=33742 but dunno if they were too big or small..........

Dont touch any of them, they all are cheap chinese copys, we have sh1t loads of them in Oz at the moment. Haven't heard one good word on them, but plenty of horror stories of compressor covers coming appart and turbos self destructing on initial start up or soon after.
Go to a reputable supplier, you can do much better than these pieces of cr@p.

So what are you looking for? Big power, low lag, what are you gonna use it for? If it was me I'd just go big single and be done with it. It's much easier and lag is not something I would be that worried about. Throw an sp60 on it or something like a T66. They're not that big but will put you near the 650rwhp mark and lag will not be bad at all

Aw, come on, they cant be that bad. there so cheep and affordable! Some even come with a "2YR FACTORY WARRANTY"

I dont want to do a big single setup. I need a quick spooling system for drifting/on road track racing. BTW The motor is going in a 240. I was going to go with about a T60 or 66 single but i dont want simple and esay, i want twins : evil:

Check out Mani's MkIV at www.T04r.com
He's running a 66 on his 2jz and makes noticable boost at 4k and peak power at 6200rpm(which is pushing the 800rwhp mark by the way!) You want power lower than that?

oh ya, i cant wait till 4K. was thnking to go with a T60 as on a 3.0 it will hit in the early 3s. But we must remember this is a 1J not a 2J, and i have already gone over and oner single setup, and im going with twins

oh and ya, iv seen manis supra run before, nice setup,

np, but iv just looked over the single setup idea many times, but thats not the issue.

I dont have a good idea on what size twins to run on this 2.5 liter. I dont want to go too small in the quest for a quick spool. Anyone know any formulas or anything to help in choosing the right size turbo?

i'm forever hearing about these "failures" of ebay turbos - but yet to see any.

seems more like "oh they can't be that great if they're that cheap - buy one off me at my markup instead" syndrome.

i'll give you two reasons why they're cheap

1) they dont have HKS/Trust/GReddy stamped on the side
2) they're an oil cooled core - no water provision.

failure on startup....? WTF? like they're glued together of matchsticks or something...? puhleeeese.

a few people on Ausrotary.com are using them - one person running a string of 9sec passes on those T70s they advertise before he went even bigger to a GT45R.

halve the engine capacity.

so pick a turbo suitable to make big power on a 1.3L engine.

my guess... a pair of T28s would be HEAPS.

What kind of power are you looking at putting down? I was just thinking the stock MkIV twins run in TTC will put down 450rwhp with associated mods and still spool at around 3k. Does your thurst for power require you have more?

Same here. I keep hearing they will not last long, maybe that is because they are not water cooled. But yes, iv never seen someone post saying, LOOK AT MY BLOWN EBAY TURBO. Some of these turbos have garrett internals, of that means anything to anyone,

Pro240c, I was looking for somthing more mathamatic lol. But thats exactly how i was doing it.

Well, in the long run, i need 600 HP but for now, 400-450 is plenty. But again, this is a 1J not a 2J, i know i can get 450 to the groud out of a 2J with BPU. im not sure how much from a 1J, and i know the 1J turbos will blow up at 14psi.

I wouldn't buy from SSautochrome or XSpower. Compressor housing is glued together.

Here's a failure.

one of their manifolds:

Also big problems with their knockoff tial-style wastegates
I'd go with rebuilt T3s from a Thunderbird WAAAAAAY before I'd buy any of those POS's.

Good on ya Thad for posting those links I'd be pretty p1ssed if someone told me that they were ok and that happened.
As I stated earlier Snyper dont touch them, leave them to those willing to waste there money.

for a more mathmatical way.. you have to determine the ammount of air flowing through your engine and divide that by two (twins). then start looking at every compressor map you can and deside which is the best for you. That depends on the desired power output and the strength of the internals/ what other types of mods you have done. If your 1j can handle 20+ lbs of boost and you have computer that can feed it the correct ammount of fuel, sweet, your turbo selection will be that much easier, if not, descide how much boost you want to pump into it and then narrow down your search.

to get 600HP you will need two turbos that flow around 30lbs/hr efficiently, that would be around the size of a GT28RS (or Larger): http://www.forcedmods.com/gt.html but that comes at a high rpm (of the compressor wheel) and high boost, witch means more lag and higher outlet temps requiring a nice intercooler. if you want around 450 HP i would suggest the GT25R or a similar sized turbo wich could flow about 20-25 lbs/hr of Air at a much lower rpm (compressor wheel rpm) wich means.. less lag.

or put a 2jz in it, maybe even a 1uz... there is no replacement for displacement.

the 1jz CT-26 turbos with the centre's upgraded to steel wheels can produce 300rwkw if you are using race fuel, so thats a cheap option for now if you are going to be chasing major power later on
