Well, every four years we have these Olypics and this go around it's held in China, Beshing.. The opening cerimonies were very impressive from from what I saw.. A Lot of "renminbi" was spent on that I am sure..

So, I am wondering if anyone else is tuned in and watching these Olympics on this forum?.. Also, curious as to what you think your own Country's best event is in these Olympics are?

Being an American, I tune into the Track and Field where we usually have some Gold medals in store for us... Wathing US Men's Basketball to see if we can even medal this go around.. Us team basketball has become a big question mark as the talent level has evened out over the years, so that is always fun to watch to see what happens... Swimming is cool...(Australia the favorite) Beach volleyball draws my attention as I use to play myself... Gymnastic's I never liked as I always thought it to be a bit on the gay fruity side (no offense)....Etc..

China got creative with this opening cerimony stuff... Don't you think?

Come on fellas, let me know how ya really feel... I forgot the "M" in Olympics my bad...Spelling was never my strong suit even though that was a typo error, you bastards....

Just say the Olympics are boring as hell and I would rather die before watching them.... Now give me a wrench and a cold beer instead...

Actually viewer ratings are very low here in the United States last time I heard....

Not too many there either.. Looking at the rowing.. Seats etc are m.t..
I like the equestrian as I used to do that years ago.. Had very good horse back then.. Living in city we don't / can not have them anymore..
I think when our local people win a few events it will get interesting..
Shame politics has to get involved in sport..
Apparently the seats have been bought out! But if there locals are NOT competing its of little interest to them...

Cant blame it on a typo, you did it more than once :lick:

Ill always avoid swimming, track & field, rowing, gymnastics, etc.
Cycling, soccer, shooting, volleyball, etc ill watch though.

Team USA basketball spanked Team China and Yoa Ming today...That's gotta hurt China getting spanked like that in their own Country and in front of their own countrymen... Poor Yoa and China... I thought it would have been a closer battle as China has some big boys... Hmmm? Maybe this go around USA Mens basketball will bring home the gold with Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, and friends.... We will see as this team is our very best with all our best players unlike previous Olympic failures.....

Too bad they don't have a wrenching contest..Something like whom can change the spark plugs the fastest on a 1uz-fe motor... Olympic mechanic going for the Gold???? Heck, they have every other odd ball event that you would never think of so why not???...So far I've seen events like the Air gun shooting, Extra womens lightweight event, etc.. Just alot of garbage events in my opinion....

MVP - Typo, sticky M key:27: Hey, I did get it right in the third paragraph in the very first post.. :yup: The funny thing is I still don't know if I am spelling Beshing correctly..:22:

Why would you include airgun in your statement? I love airgun shooting. It's an art of patience and precision. It's not easy as it's seen. I shoot a lot of scoped airgun, and the most precision that I can get is 3/8" at 20 yards with a rest. Without rest, I can only shoot 3/4". This is nothing comparing to the pros. I know the match airguns are week, usually around 500-550 ft/sec, but they're pin point accuracy. The hunting airguns are powerful. My 1000 ft/sec airgun shooting .117 pellet is powerful enough to take out rabbits at 40-50 yards. There are also powerful airguns out there that are enough to take the big wild boars that are usually taken with powerful rifle round. Here's an example: http://www.biggamehunt.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=17454

Well Steve, in that case I appologise...I guess it is a grand sport that takes alot of percision, accuracy and skill that I was not aware of... My bad...

I was thinking "air gun shooting" is kinda like grabbing your old bee bee gun from out of your closet and go shoot a tin can sitting on a wall or something... ..Then again shooting flying dishes I think that is called skeet shooting or something.....

I was just saying the Olympics have a lot of events where I believe a country can pick up a few easy gold medals and I thought Airgun shooting and womens extra light weight were two of those events... Disregard the airshooting comment of mine but what about this "womens light weight event" and so many others?... They might as well throw in card playing, basket weaving and dart throwing too...

The cycling events I saw today were kinda cool in the rain and what not... A couple of wipe outs too... The cycling takes place thru the city of Beshing so you get to see the city.... It's kinda nice to watch these Olympic's because you get an idea of what China and the city of Beshing is really like... You can experience a tiny bit of the Chinese culture... As I would guess many if not all on this forum will ever visit China including myself..... So for that reason alone some should consider tuning in...

That's ok, John. It's common that not a lot of people are into airgunning. A match airgun can cost up to a few grands like a high-end rifle. I'm just saying it but I had no offense at all. I haven't had the time to watch any Olympic games so I don't know. I only watched the welcoming day.

Anyone happen too see Womens beach volleyball? Some of those women got vantastic back sides...:Eyecrazy: The womens Cuban team has serious lower bodies, all booty infact...:moon: Makes you wonder, what exactly are they feeding those female athelets in Cuba?

Forget the sport, just look at the tall women running around half naked in the sand.... I think I would:heart: However, don't even think of looking at the tiny young looking female gymnists, China especially....That would be a crime...

:ban:

PS. Michael Phelps is amazing in the water..... He would probably give Auqaman a run for his money...

Professional sport esp the WELL paid shouldn't be there IMO .. Tennis and Basket ball especially..Sheeesh what next ?? golf !!
Pro wresting ??

I got a degree in Physical Education and we studied alot about the ancient Olympics. The whole purpose of an olympic is to compete with HUMAN POWERED. Not machine enhanced events like shooting. I think chess is next....

Lex, you are a Chinese American.

If it's not to personal to talk about on the forums I was wondering whom you are pulling for in each Olympic event, USA or China? China is a power house, and the main reason for that is their government completely supports their athelets unlike many other countries... Financially speaking mainly......

This means each Chinese athelete can concentrate 100% on their sporting career and not have to worry about money, housing, and living expenses... It's a clear advantage....

Current 2008 medal standing -

USA - 21
China - 20
South Korea - 12
Australia - 10
Italy - 9
Russia - 9
France - 9
North Korea - 7
Japan - 6

Go the Aussies... Remember our whole country only has 21 million people total when you see how much we compete in!

Jibbby looks like Michael Phelps.

Lex, he's got more hair and more women. Also, I'm probably taller at 6 feet 6 inches too.. I'm also 40 and he's 20 years old...My back hurts and his doesn't... Thanks anyway Lex, he's a pretty good looking guy so I will take that as a complement......Thanks... What's funny is that I have been in Olympic sized pools with several potential Olympic swimmers while training for my triathalons. I found that they are soo so fast and have such great endurance.. I can not keep up as those guys for one lap and they aren't even as fast as Phelps... I am a fairly good swimmer too not to brag... That is why I am so impressed at what Phelps is doing.. He just keeps winning against the best in the world..

Keep the looks I say.....Heck, I wish I could swim like him... I would love to be able to motor in the water and win gold medals and then receive millions of dollars in endorsements after the games...... Life is good for MR. Phelps right now..

Hey, Aussie is in fourth place in the medal running...Good for you guys, you may just catch the Koreans yet for third place soon....

I tell you guys I am not a big fan of Mens gymnastic's but I was also very impressed with the Chinese on the balance rings.. They position and move their bodies in ways that I and commentators thought to be impossible... The Chinese are absolutely sick on the rings.

The Chinese gymnists are also on different level then everyone else in the playing field... Kinda like Phelps...

So who will win the Soccer and Rugby events? One would think Australia and England would be solid in those events, no?

I try this and something breaks for sure.... Shoulder blows out, hurniated disc, ruptured spine, soil my shorts, etc......It would get ugly...
