gidday,

I have a 32mm garrett external wastegate and i am wondering if this will be large enough for my project?

I have 1uzfe with master T70 turbo ... 0.68 turbine housing wanting to run 15psi. I will run a seperate 2" dump pipe out of the wastegate. I just dont want to get all the flanges and weld it up to find I need to upgrade to a 45mm one.

Any Ideas, the worst that will happen is it will start climbing up on boost high in the revs, ha.

Cheers for any help.

Too Small!!!!!! Dont chance it. A 32mm gate is only good for about 400hp max and a UZ on 15psi of boost is going to produce about 500hp.

A wastegate size should be determined by the amount of exhaust gas it needs to bypass to maintain the boost level.

A turbo working at, or near, its potential will need to bypass relatively little exhaust and will need a small wastegate, even if it is a 1000hp monster. Reduce the boost pressure or fit a larger turbo and you will need a larger wastegate to bypass more exhaust.

As you said, too small and boost will continue to rise.
Too large and the wastegate will bypass the exhaust too quickly, boost will drop and the gate will close, boost rises again and the gate pops open, etc, etc.

Too big is as bad as too small...
