VVTi 1UZ with cable throttle

The VVTi engines came with a drive by wire throttle, but had a cable for back-up / redundancy.

Two questions. Does the existing throttle body on the VVTi engines easily allow for use of the cable alone? It seems that this would be mandatory in any swap project. Especially if the swap involves a manual transmission, which brings me to my next question: has anyone successfully swapped a VVTi 1UZ into an application with a manual transmission?

I am facing the same problem, but I don't have the answers yet. My guess is that the thottle will need to be modified slightly, as the the manual actuation does not open the throttle but maybe 10%. It's like there needs to be a soleniod engaged so the actuation from the cable tuens the throttle plate immediately.
