I want to replace my vl speedo that bounces badly and is out 10% with a vdo speedo, just want to know if the speed sensor from my mkIII supra box will work with it.The sensors appear similar, using a 3 wire sensor. The VDO speed sensor unit has a 8 pulse per rev setup,is the supra the same??

Damn!!Looks like i may have to spend money.Wonder if the VDO gauge will have enough adjustability to be able to overcome it when you program it.

The speedo sends a 4 pulse per revolution to the ECU . I think you will find that the sender on the transmission sends 8 pulses per revolution to the speedo.

is the vdo and aftermarket speedo

if it is then it should be adjustable

so it doesnt matter what pulse u have 4 or 8

everyone is wrong aswell

1uzs have 20 pulses to speedo then divides bby 5 to get 4 to ecu

crwns also have another sensors to the seperate auto ecu

anyway i presume the vdo speedo is for any car so it has to be adjustable

8 pulse is just what is recommended

cheers for replies so far.Mine runs a haltech comp so not stressing about stuffing up computer readings etc.

My factory cable speedo bounces badly and is out so i want to bite the bullet and spend the money on a vdo speedo.

Since the Supra one you and I have is 4 pulse, just get a converter to deliver the pulses your speedo expects. Its a pretty easy affair...

i sell divider boxes for speedos

can adjust in 2 kph increments

very good unit

if your running std speedo u need 4 pulse speedo sensor

but if u go aftermaket then it doesnt matter what pulse u have
