Hi,

I have a 1990 Celsior, just lately it has developed a ticking noise from around the dash, at first i thought it was just a rattle but I have noticed that the ticking noise gets more rapid the faster the car goes, by the time ive got to around 100k the ticks have become unaudible and it is more like one constant noise. I thought that this might be the speedo cable catching or rubbing on something because its the only thing I can imagine that has moving parts that could cause the tick.
I dont even know whether the LS400/Celsior has a speedo cable or whether its electronic?
Any ideas?

Thanks

Dom

Are you sure it's inside the car? Might be something stuck in a tyre or a loose wheel nut... I don't think the Celsior has a mechanical speedo cable - my Soarer's is electronic.

thanks for the reply, im almost certain its inside the cabin just becasue of the way it sounds, its a plastic type "click" sound.

i think might be your odometer--if it is mechanical.

Yeah that makes alot more sense, didnt think of the odometer cable, cheers. Im a bit tentative about removing the dash but i guess theres nothing for it.

I had this in my SC400. It was the front bushing in the drive shaft. Replaced that bushing and it was gone...

That is your problem... ODOMETER....

Have you found the source of the noise yet?
I think it may be the speedo cable, heard of this before in Celsiors.
