Starter relay

Should i put a starter relay in my car?

The wiringharness in my car doesn't have one, but is made for a 1,4KW starter motor. I've read that the 1UZ starter is 2KW. What would you advise me?

The 2KW of the starter doen't flow through the ignition switch and ECU.

The 2KW is the rating of the stater motor.

The starter solenoid (attached to the starter motor) has a set of contacts inside that carry the current to provide the 2KW.

The starter solenoid doesn't draw much power so shouldn't need a relay.

Personally I run a relay as it's easier on the rest of the wiring.
