shift lever lock system

Have a 5 speed in a Landcruiser conversion , there doesn't seem to be a shift lever release wired into the brake light switch , I have to use the over ride button to move from park to drive...hope you understand the question. Thanks in advance.

So you know the problem, you need to wire the shift release mechanism

Absolutely....is it the same latch used as the override latch is what I should have asked, as I haven't looked yet.

Is it indeed, but its a levered mechanism operated by a solenoid - when you press the brake pedal the brake switch sends +ve to the solenoid.
