Hello,
I am building a Holden HR wagon with a 1UZ.
I've got the SC400 1UZ and A341e.
The gearbox has the 3 prong rubber donut output shaft.

What is my best option for a tailshaft with the HR being a live axle?

From what I've read so far is that I could:
-find a crown gearbox with a slip yoke output
-swap a A340H 4runner output shaft onto the box
-get a 2 piece tailshaft with a center bearing (apparently a commodore shaft will work without a slip yoke, although I'm not sure why?)

I assume the cheapest option would be get a A340H output shaft.
Does anyone have one for sale?

What are the pro's and con's of each option?

Thanks
Matt.

I make up a flange to replace the donut like the one on the diff. Then when the shaft is made up fit a 4x4 type slip joint into the shaft. Done it heaps and it works perfect.

Thanks gloverman.
I spoke to a driveshaft place and they said that the output shaft would not be able to take any angle on it at all. They were pushing for a two piece shaft with a center bearing.
Does replacing the donut with a flange, remove this problem? I've heard of people breaking their output shaft.
Do you have any photos you could post?
