My temperature gauge ('91 LS400) has decided to start reading hot. First thing we did was change the thermostat, hoping it would be enough, unfortunitely, it made it read hotter.

We figured out that it wasn't actually hot at all, and had Lexus have a look. They replaced the water pump, which obviously didn't fix it. They then said they would have to change the gauge.

I have managed to get hold of another gauge cluster and removed the temperature gauge, though before I went to the effort of pulling mine apart, I'd ask if anyone else has come across the same problem.

Did you do radiator flush recently?Sometimes it can be problem with air trapped in the system, usually in heater core.Had this problem last summer,so all i had to do is to bleed cooling system(bleeding screw on top of thermostat housing),spent about one extra gallon of antifreeze.
