I know that for a kenwood head unit you can buy a wire that plugs into the decks changer port and has rcas at the other end. You can find it on crutchfield at:

From there you'd just buy a wire that has rca male plugs on one end and headphone female plug on the other. You'd just plug your ipod, mp3 player, laptop into the female.
So when you switch to the changer you essentially are switching to an auxillary input.
You might be able to find a pioneer type plug like the kenwood plug I mentioned above so that you can play your mp3 through your head unit.
