Installing a 1UZ-FE in a mid engine kit car similar in construction to a gt40.

I am interested in purchasing a universal engine management system
who makes the best aftermarket ecu?

Where is the best place online to order a longblock or a turnkey motor?

If I want to rev to 7500 redline, what would I need to do to a stock engine?
I do NOT want more power (never thought I'd say that) as the builder used a
Audi 016 transaxle and it's rated 300hp (I wish it was a G50 but the suspension
system wont work with this setup without cutting the frame up and redesigning
the rear upper a-arms. I just want it a little revvier than stock.

I suppose my question is, where my money best spent for a little more rpms?

My budget is about $5000 or so. I know I could accomplish this for 10k easy,
but I'd break my tranny if I add more than a tad of power.
 
Get a pre-'95 engine; it'll have beefier rods than the later ones and will handle the higher RPM's better.

Want a "little" more power? Nitrous is a cheap power adder, and you can go in stages with it from mild to wild.

After that, you're into expensive stuff that involves taking the engine apart, like head porting, bigger valves, cams, etc.

One thing to be aware of early on is which sump configuration would fit your kitcar best - there are front, mid, and rear sumps. Rear tends to be the most popular for the classic front engine swaps, but for your midengine project, it may not be the best configuration.

The rear sumps come out of the SC400.

I think the fronts are LS400, and the midsumps are the GS400?

My choice is always the UCF20 VVti motors. The photo is of a front sump which is most usually on the Celsior or LS400 VVti engines. They handle the revs well and produce a broader rev range. They do require a above average management system a a competant tuner. Cheers
 
The new Adaptronic E440 is good value. It's even compatible with the GM E85 sensor, so the mapping adjusts based on the level of E85 in the tank. :)

This is a 1st generation 1UZ-FE (LS400). "Non VVt-i"


The Megasquirt 2 or 3 ECU will work fine with you. even with the dual dizzy setup.

you could reach 7500 RPM with this motor .... I believe 300 FWHP is reachable also..
