Hey guys, last year about this time, I almost gave up on my dream to own at least a functioning supra. Well, through my laziness and sheer luck, I never sold my supras. After letting the idea of the supras sit for a wile I came across an interesting idea for a swap that my room mate inspired me to do. I am putting a lexus v8 from an sc 400 into my mk3.

Here are the pics of the first two test fittings.
These pics are posted on my roomies "Pro" flickr account.

The issues we encountered from the first test fitting are that the catalytic converters were resting directly on the fuel line. Which obviously is bad. So I rerouted the fuel lines and have yet to refit the engine due to school taking priority over my engine swap. I plan on making this car SMOG legal so I don't have worry about driving and possibly losing my vehicle due to having an illegal engine swap. The biggest bitch I can see is going to be the wiring. I am pretty sure I have a grasp on the wiring though from all the resources one the internet dedicated to wiring a 1uz into anything.

I think I am about 500-1000 dollars away from getting the car running and driving under it's own power. Then after that I have trouble shoot any error codes.

If you have any questions feel free to ask. ALSO, I have a **** load of parts from a turbo mk3 that are available. Lexus AFM's 1 mk3 supra AFM that is working properly, or was working properly when I last used it. some interior, and even a high miles, perfect for a rebuild grey plug 7mgte. Send me a pm if you need anything and you're in Cali.

Thanks,

Martin

awesome. I know from reading Phil Bradshaw's account of the swap, the oil filter comes close to the sway bar, but apparently on LHD cars its good. Thanks again!

I thought you meant this kind of sway bar.

Strut tower bar. After my 1uz swap, mine would no longer fit so it is just sitting in a corner in the garage along with other various 7M-GTE parts.

Are you sticking with the automatic or going with a 5spd? If the 5spd, which adapter are you using?

you can get your strut brace to work. i stuck mine in a press and put two slight bends to clear the top of the intake manifold. and it still works great.

Hmm, I may have to try that over the winter. With the ends being adjustable the variance in length from the additional bends should be taken up in these adjustments. Thanks for the idea!

From what I see, the LS400 engine may interfere with the sway bar. The LS and SC don't have the same oil pans nor the oil filter blocks.

Yes, you have to run the SC pan and filter housing. The LS pan sump would sit on the crossmember and steering rack. The filter housing will most likely interfer with the steer rack head.
