LS430 wiring pre 2003 and post 2003

Is it true the LS430 had a facelift in 2003 and are the ECU's interchangable between those models (first model is 2000-2003 and 2nd model should be 2003-2006 or something). What are the exact differences? According to a wreckyard here it's a 1kW (1.6 HP) difference on the engines or so. I think the ECU's are not interchangable, the pinout seems to be slightly different, correct?
