Hey guys and gals,
For those LS430 owners with a shoddy starter, feel free to use this walk-through to guide you through the replacement procedure:
**The Procedure**
1) Disconnect the negative battery cable. Wait at least 90 seconds before performing any other work
2) Drain engine coolant
3) Remove the V-bank cover
4) Disconnect the accelerator cable
5) Remove the Intake air connector
6) Remove the Throttle body
7) Remove the Upper and lower intake manifold assembly
8) Disconnect/remove the Rear water bypass joint
9) Remove the Water bypass pipe from the water pump
10) Remove/disconnect the Wire clamp from the bracket on the water bypass pipe
11) Remove the O-ring from the water bypass pipe
12) Remove the Water bypass pipe bracket from the water bypass pipe
13) Remove the 2 bolts holding the starter to the cylinder block
14) Remove the Starter connector
15) Remove the Starter from the cylinder block
16) Remove the Nut, and disconnect the starter wire
17) Finally, you car remove the Starter
**Install or connect the following**
1) Wire clamp to the wire bracket with the bolt. Tighten to 87 inch lbs.
2) Starter wire with the nut. Tighten to 87 inch lbs.
3) Starter connector
4) Starter with the 2 bolts. Torque the bolts to 29 ft. lbs. (39 Nm).
5) Water bypass pipe bracket to the water bypass pipe
6) O-ring to the water bypass pipe
7) Water bypass pipe
8) Wire clamp to the bracket on the water bypass pipe
9) Water bypass pipe bolts. Torque the bolts to 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm).
10) Rear water bypass joint
11) Intake manifold assembly
12) Throttle body
13) Intake air connector
14) Accelerator cable
15) V-bank cover
16) Reconnect the neg. battery cable
That should just about cover it. Try to start up your LS430 to ensure that all the work was properly performed
