My sc400 has developed a progressively loud squeal when i turn the wheel (it seems to be coming from the driver's side). I took it to one shop who thought it might be the outer tie rod. Another recommended lexus shop said it may be the upper control arm but they are not sure. I purchased a mechanics stethoscope and placed it on the upper arm, lower arm, and outer tie rod and the sound just radiated throughout. It can squeal's momentarily when breaking and when going over bumps. I really need to make sure i know where this is coming from i can't afford to buy the wrong parts right now. Help!

i applied some grease first to the upper ball joint then the lower and it finally quieted down abit after i put grease on the lower ball joint. I am also going to apply grease to the outer tie rod ball joint and see if there is any difference, but i definitely need a new lca!

If the ball join is dry, then it might squeal. But it doesn't mean you'll need to replace the whole LCA. The ball joint usually will outlast the bushings.
