Coolant bypass

I competed in a burnout comp with my Hilux 1uz yesterday, summer here in Nth Qld so it was bloody hot.
I was thinking of installing an electric water pump so I can keep cooling with the engine off in the pits. My concern is that with a thermostat it will create a dead end when cold and with the bypass removing the thermostat does not seem to be an option. Unless of coarse I blocked the bypass, is this possible?

It would be better for the engine and it should cool better if you let it idle and cool down as it would in traffic.

This assumes it has a decent cooling fan on it.

In fact going for a drive would be my chosen method.

Thanks, I shall do as you have stated. I have ordered a 72 degree thermostat from Japan to try also.

an EWP will still help even with thermostat in place, I'd hack a thermostat up that is in the open position all the time to swap in when you're doing burnout events
