Hi, I was wondering how the cold start injector is wired, and is it linked to the ecu (STA). I have been told just to hook up the black wire (for cold start) to my IGN. But i was wondering what is to stop the injector injecting. I know there is a timer but i assume this is in the ecu?

Any help would be appreciated.

The cold start injector only works when the engine water temp drops below freezing, or thereabouts.

Being in Hamilton you shouldn't discard it as you'll most likely need it in winter.

When above freezing it doesn't run so it won't cause you any problems.

From tracing the wiring I found the cold injector does not go to ECU(Crown motor). It is controlled by a temperature sender on the motor. There is a power source to this temperature sensor. When the motor is cold the sensor has a low resistance allowing the injector to be at maximum flow, as the motor heats up the sensors resistance increases to a point where the injector closes of.

Thanks guys, got it sorted and now starts mint every time.
I had it wired to the starter the first time but found the wire was not conducting anymore!

Cheers.
