Can someone help me with a document that has some pictures showing how to check the cam timing. In particular the relationship of inlet to exhaust. I've purchased a second hand rebuilt engine that doesn't want to start. I'm suspicious that the cam timing might be out.
It is most important to ensure there is no slack in the belt between the right & left bank sprockets, and from the left bank sprocket down to the crank drive pulley. Any slack in these areas will cause the timing to be out.
Any slack in the belt should be between the crank drive pulley and the right hand bank, which is where the tensioner is located, and its job is to take up the slack.
