Hey guys I am new to lextreme.com and this is my first thread.

Glad to say that i have just begun a 1uzfe project that will be a single turbo set up running roughly 8-10psi. It will have stock internals with race bearings, slightly lowered compression (9.3-9.5) thanks to a cosmetic steel head gasket. I was just wondering what cam specs i should be running to acheive optimum power without spending a ton of money as this is a project on a budget. And also wether it was worth jus scrapping the stock cams and gettin some new ones or getting the stock ones worked. Any help on the cams and my project in general will be greatly apreciated!

thanks

Welcome to Lextreme. What car is the engine in? What will you be doing with the vehicle, daily driver, track car, truck?

Now, that said, you should thoroughly check out JustenGT8's TT 1uzfe Celica. Completely stock engine with turbos and aftermarket engine management makes OVER 400rwkw/520rwhp and has been driving it hard and at the track for some time between 300rwkw and 400+rwkw.

So, I would say WHY do anything to the engine for your 10psi goals?

Agreed. There be dragons where you're going, Jared, so watch your step.

You can take a stock $500, 150K engine from the junkyard, clean it up, and probably coax nearly 500 HP out of it, or you can dump another $20K into it and make maybe 600 or 700HP. It's very easy to drop a ton of money into these motors once you open them up.

Those of us who have already been there really ought to write a few lines on the mistakes made, lessons learned, and things "not" to do, so that new guys can save a few $$ in the process.

thanks for the replies, I was just curious as to if I should even bother making the cams aggressive for the 400-450rwhp application that i am aiming for, since i am definatly making them lumpy already. Vehicle will be more a weekend/skid car so around town performance is not an issue for me. Will also have a standalone ECU and COP's.
