My '98 LS400 claims that when cruising it gets 8.2 litres per 100km.
I'm not sure if my maths are correct but wouldn't that then be 1000km for 82 litres used ? But there is no way in a million years my LS would get 1000km per tank. Can anyone tell me if my maths are correct ?

It doesn't include stop start traffic or hilly terrain...
With only driver. No extra weight...

fuel economy

yeah but if i leave Gosford, set the fuel computer to zero, drive to my mums at Port Macquarie 400km's away.. cruise up and back at the speed limit, the fuel computer says i'm averaging 8.2L per 100km... which means i should easily get up and back (800km) and still have 200km left in the tank... is that not correct ?
but i have to fill up on the return trip and when i do fill up the fuel display says its got 650km in it..... which means i'm averaging about 12.5L per 100km... and thats very light hwy cruising with the display telling me i'm doing 8.2L per 100km.... i cant work that out....

1- The computer will start to average the data from last reset.
2- the stop start will affect the fuel consumption badly.
3- the more you go you will get more accurate readings.

mshawari1... I know all 3 of your points... with respect, i have no idea what your comment means.... :(

economy confusion

hey XR8tt... is what i'm saying making any sense ? If there is 85 litres in the tank, and i'm averaging 8.2L per 100km on a trip, i should get 1000 km per tank full yes ?
