1UZFE POSSIBLY OVERHEATING

Hi All,

Over the past two weeks it's happened twice that I drive the vehicle (1UZFE transplant into 94 Hilux with BMW 750iL radiator & fan) and everything's fine - temperature remains steady just below approx 50% between lowest & highest on gauge. After switching the vehicle off for approx 15-20 minutes it doesn't want to re-start - it doesn't even turn. Battery power OK - all gauges come on etc but no starting. Then after say 3 hours(after cooling off) - the vehicle starts like a charm ....................any thoughts on this ??

Maybe your starter motor needs an overhaul? It should turn over regardless of the engine temperature, even if it doesn't fire.
Maybe you need to look at the engine grounding, it could be a high resistance connection that is aggravated by heat... Or perhaps the connection from the ignition to the starter solenoid...

You should double check the relays and fuse related to the starter. Its possible that one or more connections are loose. Please see this tutorial on how to bypass the relays. http://www.lextreme.com/dx-starter.html
