1uzfe overheating

Hi all im new to this thing. I have a 1991 toyota soarer uzz30 v8. The car overheats every few days. The engine light comes on and steam comes out of the resevoir does dat mean it's got a cracked head?? i pull off the bolt on top of the thermostat and full it up with water. It takes over 4l of water at times. after that it's sweet for a few days then it does the same.Do u have any ideas?

Oh come on 4 litres at a time? it means he's got a great big coolant leak and needs to find out where from. Engine is probably cooked by now anyhow. Either split top tank or water pump is gone. Go to a radiator shop and get it looked at but sorry bro you're up shit creek in a barbed wire canoe

Possible, it won't take many miles to steam away 4 litres of coolant if the cap wasn't holding pressure. Also there's no mention of white smoke from the exhaust or if the cooling system was 'burped' after each top-up.

no white smoke when i rev the car so. i'll take it in to a radiator specialist and get it looked at thanx all for helping
