Hi all,

I've compiled a package of wiring diagrams and diagostic procedures for the 1UZ-FE VVTi (specifically 1998-2000 LS400).

The diagrams cover a variety of circuits, including ECU, auto transmission, AC, starting and charging, multiplex, shift lock, radiator fan, and more. Also included are component locations, power/ground sources, connector lists, etc.

There are two variations of diagrams - Factory Toyota and Non-Toyota.

There are Lexus/Toyota diagnostic troubleshooting procedures for the following codes (pasted here for those searching the forums): P0100, P0101, P0110, P0115, P0116, P0120, P0121, P0125, P0130, P0150, P0133, P0153, P0135, P0141, P0155, P0161, P0136, P0156, P0171, P0172, P0300-P0308, P0325, P0330, P0335, P0340, P0420, P0430, P0440, P0441, P0446, P0450, P0451, P0500, P0505, P0710, P0711, P0715, P0750, P0755, P0760, P0753, P0758, P0763, P0768, P0770, P1120, P1121, P1125, P1126, P1127, P1128, P1129, P1300-P1340, P1335, P1345, P1350, P1346, P0135, P1349, P1354, P1520, P1600, P1633, P1656, P1663, P1755, P1760, P1765, P1780.

Hopefully this helps those doing VVTi swaps, especially with bypassing check engine codes when using the stock ECU, as there isn't too much info currently available.

Enjoy.

Interesting that it shows a fuel pump ECU in the componants. We mostly get JDM engines which don't use the fuel pump control ecu and I've run up general , europe and USDM spec ecus on my test bench without issue. Did your one run the fuel pump ecu?
The trans diagnostic is handy(thanks) to add to my info as I have one arriving soon with a issue there.
I find the VVti good to wire and generally the looms are in far better condition than the early engines. Enough on here , just finished wiring one and off to do another with a 3uz waiting.

I believe that one diagram was for a USDM VVTi SC400. You're right - the LS doesn't have a fuel pump ECU.

I have not yet wired my motor as I'm still gathering parts.

I've updated the file to include immobilizer diagnostics and procedures.

Thanks!
hiluxfan, once there was an LS430 FSM somewhere on the web but it's not there anymore. In fact I noted that many sources of Toyota diagrams don't have them anymore. I think it's more reliable to have some storage visible only for forum members so it would be less likely for someone to complain illegal sharing, etc

The LS430 FSM is still available via the torrents.

I would also suggest to collect some $20-30 somehow and buy a daily subscription to toyota techinfo, then exhaustively download everything you see for future use )

Thanks a bunch!

Wiring isn't my strong suit, and I'm a little chicken to dive into my swap. Mines a bit unique in that I'm putting a 99 GS400 engine and trans into a 91 LS400. I have the full wiring harness (engine and body) from the GS, but not quite sure how to marry the two together. I'd like to use the ABS from the old car so I don't have to redo all the brake parts, but not sure if the ABS can run "standalone" without connection to the ECU?

Thankyou!

I doubt you can assume so, but are the LS/GS/SC's pretty similar between ECU's and wire colors? If I do a swap, I'll TIS my info anyway. Just curious.
