1uz soarer cold start

I'm going to cut to the chase.
Difficult starting cold, need lots of throttle to start.
Seems to choke, cough splutter for about 10 seconds or so.

If I bridge Fuel pump FP + B+ it does seem a little better.
If I turn ignition on a let pump run for 5-10 seconds before cold start
When the pump is bridged, is better again, almost normal.

Fuel filter changed.
Original fuel pump and fuel ecu.

Sound like fuel pump ecu ? Shouldn't bridging FP + B+ fix it completely ?

Is yours the older gen 1uz? If so then it runs the cold start injector and there is a thermo switch for it in the water bridge of the head...mine went bad and would take a few goes to get her fired when cold... replaced the sensor and haven't looked back...

Yes 1st gen.
Will look into that, have replaced ect sensor before but never the one you mentioned. Very possible the culprit, however bridging the ports does help a lot ?
Still not convinced I don't have an Fuel ecu issue, just the cost of a new one is a little prohibitive to simply trial.

Will change sensor as you mention either way.

brown temp sensor is for cold start circuit, cold start injector is on the underside of the intake manifold

and its the #2 in the pic, the #3 is for the gauge cluster, #2 is the cold start switch

Looks like I will be replacing this and go from there. Car has been quite good last few mornings. Will remove the fuel pump bridge in connector port in the morning and see how it behaves.

Yup... sorry brain fart moment...
Mine would take 2-3 attempts to fire, then would run rough for maybe 10 sec then come right...
I just threw a second hand one at it as I didnt like the price of a new one Haha
