1uz MX83 and 87 Toy pickup dual build

Hey guys.
Been a member for a while and posted an intro threads years ago. I bought my 1990 Mx83 with a blon headgasket for $500. I intended to just keep it as a daily (to keep the miles off my low mileage 1993 LS400 i bought earlier). I paid a shop $1000 to "fix" the hg.



Enjoyed the car and made a few appareance upgrades.

Ofcourse, the headgasket failed again 9 months later. I said screw it, and bought a 1uz from a 1994 sc400 for $300.



Swapped in the LS400 oilpan and pickup.



Made a cressida/ ls400 hybrid transmission.

Installed a LS400 sterring rack to help clear the driverside exhaust manifold.





Dropped the 1uz in.



Fabbed exhaust with 2.5" pipe



Got her running great.

Installed a MA70 supra diff after fabbing the fron mounts on the subframe.






Get a JDM front bumper.


Current look.



Was planning to paint the bumper and call her finished until I found this.

Spent some time cleaning it up.





The cressida will be torn down to swap in the VVTi. I plan on using the 5 speed auto trans from a 2001 Is300 with the E-shift.

nice work. Install is actually a hre cleaner than the one in my cressida.
and, I love using the supra posi in mine also. Which ratio did you get?

Thanks. I'm using the 4.30 ratio and love it also. I just bought a second 5speed conversion kit from you this past saturday. Gonna help a friend do a 1uz/5speed conversion into a MA70.

I do like the factory look. It will go really well with the VVti in it.

I'm anxious to complete the swap. VVTI plus 5 speed auto and 4.30 gear should move nice

The cressida project is on hold until I finish my truck. Bought it 2 years before I got the cressida. Bought it from a kid who planned to drift it but lost interest after not figuring how to get it to run.

It had a factory 22rte swap that was torn apart. The body was decent and the frame was in perfect condition so I bought it as is.


Got the motor together. and cleaner her up.






FMIC upgrade

It ran ok but it was a frankenteined haggard mess electronicly. I planned to remove the entire harness and refurb it but decide a 1uz would be better. 75% more power, 100% better gas milage and 10000% more reliable.









Just received my mandrel bends to fab up the exhaust. I'm gonna remove the cab to do the exhaust. It's gonna be tight and I need room to work.

Oh yeah, Here's the "Lexus" V6 that I'm prepping to put in my SW20.

Thank you for documenting this build, I have some questions, the solution Ive found for clearing the rack has been to make custom manifolds, Did you find that using the ls400 rack cured this issue? was the Ls400 rack a bolt in mod or did you need to get creative? Stock fuel Pump? what radiator/fan setup did you use? Thank you again for documenting this and sorry for questions but my 7m is on the way out and I like to plan as much as possible.

Finished the truck a month ago. Very fun. Spins tires in 1st, 2nd and 3rd at 50mph. Need to trash the open rear and swap in a ford 8.8 with LSD soon.
