1uz mid sump dipstick installation on front sump block.

G'day guys. I have a 1uz that I put into my hilux that I have fabricated a custom sump for. My question is. Can I drill a hole and use a mid sump dipstick (through block)? Or are the blocks not the same? I can see the blank boss where the dipstick would be?

yes you can. We flick a small hole into the boss and then screw in a self tapping screw to give us something to grap onto so the boss can be removed. Cheers

Another option is to knock the plug out from underneath when the sumps off.

Don't know if my block is the same then. It isn't a "plug" as such. Just a blank area in the casting. I'm thinking if I drill through I will be in to the gallery that runs to the sump?

mind you its pretty easy to fit a dipstick to that sump.

Here is that close up. If I can help it I don't want to have to take the sump off again. Requires pulling the motor.
