Maybe this has been talked over before but it seems that early 1uz use studs and nuts for the main caps. I looked at a 3uz Lexus service manual and it looks like they use bolts for the mains.

My question is: do the later year 1uz's come with main bolts also?

Are you talking about the bolt that holds the main? All bolts.....

Head: bolts (stretchable)
Main: Bolts
and so on...

My 1uzfe have 4studs and 2 bolts for each main bearing cap.

BTW, my 1000hp twin turbo dry sump 1uzfe engine is coming together ....

Hmmm... Dry sump. Sounds very juicy! Keep us updated on your progress. I'm about to start on my very own single or twin 1000hp 1uz setup using stock oil pump. Once the motor gets here (should be this week) i will start fabbing exhaust manifolds and a sheet metal intake/fuel rails for domestic injectors.

And I have noticed the later 1UZ motors have much beefier main caps.

Would be entirely possible for you to snap some pics of the differences that you found between the later and early 1uz's? I was expecting the upper oil pan bolts to be the same size as 2jz oil pain bolts but they look just plain teeny! Even the head studs looks small. I'm using 1/2" studs on my 2jz motor now and it looks like there is ample room for retapping the 1uz motor for 1/2" studs as well.
