Hey Guys,

Just wanted to say how much of a help this site has been in my research process.

Im going to put a 1uz into my 2wd hilux (98), going to use the engine from the crown as it has the front sump, and has been reccomended by alot of people here on the forums.

My big question is this, having never seen the enging IRL, i havent seen how well the sump pan clears the Xmember. Im eventually going to Bag it and i want it to lay on the ground. Will the sump pan clear the Xmember enough or will i have to get a custom sump pan made up.

Also, something that i havent seen much of here is discussion about Difs. Will i need to upgrade my dif when i install the new engine/trans or will the standard dif be good enough.

Has anyone got fotos of a 1uz hilux with the front tubbed, as thats my other concern. after the engine is installed, im not going to be able to tub the wheel wells sufficiently for my rails to kiss the road. LOL maybe i will just have put thinner tires of the front, the 8inch ones on there atm already scrub at 3/4 of lock LOL.

Any help would be great.

Thanks heaps

Jase

The stock 8" differential on the Hilux and 4Runner's can handle 300+ horsepower and loads of torque (think dual and tri-xcases). If you feel that you'd still like to upgrade, Marlin Crawler makes axle shafts.

i have a crown in my 92 2wd hilux
its the crown with the 2 ecus
and it has a mid sump not a front one from std form

i fitted the castlemaine sump much better fittment and less work but they are 600 bucks

Thanks fo the info Guys.

Sideshow, did you also use the engine mounts that CRS make or did you fab ur own, im thinking that the CRS ones would save alot of time.

save alot of time depends on what you can do

i made my mounts in afew hours

mind you ive been doin engine conversions for 10 years

the only prob with buying engine mounts you have to make sure you have right model car

cause the hilux has auto and manual form
diesel and petrol form

if you can buy them for your exact model then might be easier

but at end of day from all the places i go and do work at alot of times buy kits is not a straight bolt up

kits for 1uzs and holden v6s and v8s occassinally have small snags and u still need to do some mods to the units you buy

so just ask them will they fit

my ute was auto originally and i fitted the 1uz auto from crown so my conversion jsut needed engine mounts gbox used orig mount

ive never seen the crs mounts cause its not hard for me to make them

i only bought the sump cause i had 4 to 5 days to do the conversion
due to my work so i couldnt be stuffed lookin for front or rear sumps

std diff is ok just pain in arse thats its open centre

i used to run a 4.3 open but it revved to much on highway

so i have a 3.7 lsd better up top but just lost abit down low
