1uz-fe or 3uz-fe?

The 1UZFE EGR Delete Kit is available for sale here.
I am considering a v8 swap for RA28 celica liftback. I know some people are already swapping for a 1uz-fe, but I want to be different - I need to know the dimensions and weight for 3uz-fe. I dont want to be sacrificing handling by puting a heavy engine in a light car (i will be lightweighting). I already know the 1uz-fe basically has 700mm square dimensions.

Thanks, thats good to hear. I've heard a lot of different things about the 3uz, some saying that is just as heavy as the 2uz iron cast, and that its bigger in size than the other models. Not much seems to be known about them. It's probably safer to stick with the 1uz.

The only problem I have with the 1uz comes from the reliability side of things. I am hoping to keep this car for a fair while, and considering the engine is already around 10 years old, I figured the 3uz would be beter in the long run.

Unless you are going for SERIOUS horsepower I do not think you have to worry about the 1UZ-FE lasting.

They are one of the most over engineered motors ever built.

Does anyone know the exact weight differences? If not, I may end up going with a 1uz and 3uz heads. Even though its .3 liter smaller, the 1uz seems to have stronger block, stronger rods and better pistons. The only reason why I wanted a 3uz is because of it's slightly better specs, and it hasn't been done before in a car like mine - it seemed promising. And no I'm not looking for any serious horspower, I want to keep it fairly stock and reliable (it will be a daily driver). Either way it's going to be a hell of a job shoehorning one of these things into a relatively small engine bay. I have read about others doing the same thing as me, but no word has come around wheather it was sucessful or not.

I have all the blocks at home and the 1 & 3UZ is almost the same. Weight and size are not a factor into your decsion making. 3uzfe cost 10 times more then 1uzfe and if you can find one.
