1UZ engine

The 1UZFE EGR Delete Kit is available for sale here.
Hi All.
Will be picking up a 1994 1UZ engine this weekend, other than the e.c.u and engine wiring is there anything els I should get.

Many Thanks

Alan

What transmission are you using ?? Whats it going in ?
Make sure "air metter" is included...

Flex plate at the rear (unless you already have a flywheel sorted out)

Idle air control (often pulled off by the wreckers because they're expensive and can easily be resold)

Hi All,
There is an auto box and propshaft with it, both are still connected, the engine is going in my TVR. The engine is still in the car so will be taken out on the day, I was told today I need the key ?,

Many Thanks
Alan

You shouldn't need the key as a 94 doesnt have a immobiliser chip in the key.

Get the standard fuel pump, probably easier to get the fuel tank complete and remove at your leisure, and the ignitors. As mentioned earlier you will also need the mass airflow sensor.

If you will be using the auto box get the gearstick and change mechanism complete, including the power switch.

Any problems or questions drop me a line.

Cheers,

Tony

Hi Tony,
Power switch, is this part of the gearbox.

Alan

Its in the interior on the side of the gearchange trim, next to the gear lever. It has power and economy written on it and it basically delays the gearchange allowing the engine to rev higher. Its actually wired into the ECU.

Are you breaking the car yourself ? If not, do not allow the breakers to split the engine or box or remove any of the engine loom as they may well just cut through the loom for ease of dismantling and then you are truly knackered.

Cheers,

Tony

Thanks for the info

Hi All.
Forgot big thanks for all the help.
We got the engine and tranx all in one piece with the auto select and power switch, the engine has all the wires and connectors, e.c.u.mass airflow sensor and fuse box, I did not know about the immobiliser chip in the key so we got the full steering colum.
Next job is to try find out which wires we need to run the engine, I am sure there will be somebody on the forum who will know.
Will post a picture tommorow when we get it out of the van.
Question, where is the engine number and how much info can I fine out about this engine from the number.

Many Thanks

Alan

The engine number is stamped onto the block at the front of the engine just underneath where the top hose leaves the engine towards the radiator. For ease of viewing remove the plastic cover from the top/front of the engine.

Re the wiring Cobber from this site put together a nice wiring schematic of how to wire the engines up which really works very well. I've used it on both the Cobras here. Do a search on either my or Cobbers posts and you will find it.

I have quite a few files on my home computer that may be useful, drop me your email addy via pm and I'll put some together and email them to you

Most of them actually came from this site ie the wiring diagrams and tech articles on the Lextreme site home page ( ie not the forum) which will be invaluable to you.

Cheers,

Tony

Hi All.

Finally got a Toyota V8 and auto box, I will be fitting it into my TVR, I don’t know how it will work out but the engine is from a low mileage 120K car with one careful owner and a full service history.
I will do away with the steering pump and AC pump; I have an electric power steering colum and don’t think I will need the AC.
I was thinking of a single turbo bu I don't want to do any mods to the engine at this time, just want to fit it and get it running as is then think about performance if needed, any help with turbo mods would be appreciated, I will also be posting in the drivetrain and electrical sections for help

Many Thanks for all the help

Alan
