HOW DO YOU ADJUST IGNITION TIMING?

Thanks glove, I'm inclined now to think the only thing wrong with this car is 13 yrs of neglect. I owned it for only a year and I'm bringing back to new-like condition with my personal top tier maintenance. Wow, what a difference seafoaming has made! Cheers. LS400GUY

    Carbon Buildup

I've just used Seafoam for the 1st time, and I don't know what people are referring to about the plugs. I use iridium plugs and they work fine after the Seafoam treatment, and they should because if the plugs are in good shape, it will blast away any carbon debri from the Seaform quite easily...

HOW DO YOU ADJUST IGNITION TIMING?

I've noticed on my OBD2 (active mode), my ignition timing is at 18-19 degrees BTDC on my '95 LS400, I know the timing should be in the 8-12 degree BTDC range. The shop manual instructs on how to check with a timing light, but it doesn't instruct on how to adjust. We have a lot of sharp Lex...

Can you pull codes with no engine light on?

I've found two codes....P0100(MAF sensor cir) & P0110(IAT sensor cir) Now I will have to do some testing to see what the cause of the sluggishness is, it helps that the codes narrows it down to these 2 areas, any advice or experience with these codes from anyone is most welcomed. Thanks in...

Can you pull codes with no engine light on?

Interesting, I pulled the plug on the MAP, and the engine started but died out quickly. I then reinserted the plug, the engine started as usual, but the "check engine" light came on for the first time since I've owned the car in over a year, also the "Traction Control" is now blinking. Any ideas...

How is it that my car runs with no MAF?

glove..., do you think by running the engine with an extremely dirty air filter for 50,000 miles (maybe many more) could screw up the MAF? It seems to make sense to me that it would, it's a very sensitive component, is it not? TIA. LS400GUY

How is it that my car runs with no MAF?

Now that you know the problem is MAF related, have you thought about replacing the MAF instead of keeping it unplugged? LS400GUY

94 LS400 - sluggish acceleration, and low RPM pinging

LS400 sluggishness questions Can someone tell me which OBD applies to the '95 LS, is it the OBDI or OBDII diagnostic tool? In addition, is it possible that something as simple as a clogged fuel filter be the culprit? My only problem is slow acceloration at take off and midrange...

    New LS400 Owner ('96)

J.B., thanks for the info. I have a '95 LS (love it!), my wife has a '98 LS. Amazing, both cars had significant tech upgrades from the previous model years, it wasn't planned that way but we're happy just the same. Cheers. LS400GUY

Och: please let us know if and when you install the SAFC-II, I'm having the same problem as you with the sluggishness, and I've done most of everything you've done with my '95 LS400, I only have 123k miles and bought it a year ago w/107k miles but the previous owner never changed the air...

madmont I'm inclined to agree with you that the filter is in the tank, because it's definitely not anywhere else on this car, and that's a fact. Thanks. LS400GUY

    Average Gas Mileage

4x4 I kid you not, my LS 400 DOES NOT, I repeat DOES NOT have a fuel filter, unless its inside the gas tank. I am still waiting for Lex or anyone to prove me wrong, as of yet, no one has. Please, do not talk to me about any other cars except the one I'm referring too, and that is a 1995...
